Sleep is one of the most discussed — and stressed about — topics for new parents. Understanding what's developmentally normal can help ease anxiety and set realistic expectations.

Newborn Sleep (0-3 months)

Newborns sleep 14-17 hours per day in short bursts of 2-4 hours. They don't distinguish between day and night yet. This is completely normal.

Infant Sleep (4-12 months)

By 4-6 months, most babies begin consolidating sleep into longer nighttime stretches. A typical pattern might be 11-12 hours at night with 2-3 daytime naps.

Establishing a Bedtime Routine

Consistency is key. A calming sequence — bath, massage, story, feed, sleep — signals to your baby that it's time to wind down. Keep the room dark, cool, and quiet.
